Proper niche game, that one. And underrated in my book.
Yeah, they're demonstrating how some games cheat to create the illusion of massive maps I think.
Yeah, it will be really interesting to see who gets involved - and whether any AAA companies headhunt Lunar Workshop. Or just steal and copy the freely available code.
"Battlefield 3 proves that the single-player first-person shooter is dead!"
No it doesn't. Go away.
I'd elaborate, but 117 people have already done it better than I could.
Erm, didn't anybody spot the missing "2" in the title?
Good review nonetheless. Not my cup of tea, but looks like it's taking dance games as far as they can realistically go.
Bubble up. Obvious, but almost made me fall off my chair laughing.
Absolutely everyone in Fable II and III except Stephen Fry. Everyone! As a Brit, it pisses me off that every NPC has a ludicrous stereotypical regional accent - and one that's horribly forced at that.
Erm... Deadly Premonition?
Awesome coverage for an underrated game... but pretty sure it's out already? Been playing it for a while.
Are exclamation marks allowed in titles? Seriously, I'd like to know one way or the other.
Yeah, that's about the size of it. GT5 is a better simulation, FM4 is a better game. It all comes down to what you want, really.
Personally, I'm all about the fun (and will probably prefer Forza 4), but GT5's precision and realism can't be beat.
Wow, I literally completed Gears 3's campaign half an hour ago (just popped back online) and I completely forgot about that character. Seriously, I'd forgotten that he was even in the game. Sorry, Ice, but does anyone actually care?
No, no, no. Core gaming and mobile gaming are both parallel economies - one doesn't thrive at the expense of the other. If one is rising while the other is faltering, it's not because people are buying Angry Birds instead of Gears Of War 3 or Resistance 3. No-one has ever said "I'm not going to buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 because I have a smartphone and Facebook." They're both sides of the same coin.
The exception is dedicated handheld consoles. Once table...
I expected inflammatory drivel, but this is probably the most entertaining article I've read all year. Incisive, engaging, brilliant turn of phrase. I'm not sure that it ever actually answers its own question, but it's certainly one of the few opinion pieces that actually deserve reading. Makes a change!
As far as the question goes, I reckon that brand loyalty has a lot to do with it, as does the alternative coolness associated with publicly hating something popul...
Fun is often used as a synonym for "enjoyable," and that's really the key here. There's fun to be found in achieving difficult challenges. There's fun to be found in bad games that are still worth buying by their target audience. Games don't have to be fun, but on the other hand, they should probably aspire to it unless they're making an artistic statement.
Or Commander Keen, if they really want to get nostalgic. ;)
Heh, I don't laugh out loud very often, but that was very well said! Have a bubble up.
"Own the Battlefield" works on so many levels. It'll be interesting to see whether MW3 actually will though.
Heh, hopefully most of the bugs should be squashed by the time the tournament goes live. Tripwire are legends when it comes to patching up their games (Killing Foor and RO being great examples).
I think that's the whole point: it isn't (at ALL), but loads of gamers still attack Elite anyway when the subject comes up in news posts, discussions etc.
I'd like Rockstar to deliver a fun-focused experience that focuses on colourful environments, insane characters, ridiculous weapons... wait, that's Saint's Row 3.
Okay, then how about taking it back to cowboy times, casting players as an outlaw who's forced to ride throughout an open-world Wild West for one last hurrah... oh, that's RDR.
More of the same then, please. Totally agree about needing a more dynamic hero, though - and one who yo...
